As per the locals, the name ‘Odari’ means a rocky cave that’s naturally formed. The location is a perfect spot to camp for the night amidst glacial snow and scree. The trek begins with dense vegetation alongside the Supin River, only to make us cross the river using a human chain and a coil of rope for safety. It is, however, an enjoyable experience with the group. The trail continues through the snow fields and meadows, surrounded by tall mountain ranges, and crosses a few small snow ridges before reaching Odari. Upon your arrival at the campsite, tea and snacks will be served. We request that you stay hydrated and have proper meals on time so that your body adapts well to the altitude and temperature. Today, with a promise of stunning views, we embark on a thrilling journey as we bid farewell to the picturesque campsite of Odari and begin our ascent towards Bali Col. Please carry at least 2.5 litres of drinking water, as there are no water points until you reach the next campsite. Along the way, you will be taken aback by the beautiful sight of sedimentary rocks and snow transforming into magnificent ridges. These natural wonders have been delicately carried down from the glaciers and deposited over the years, creating a trail that is simply gorgeous. The trail gradually gains altitude as we climb the strenuous incline. We urge you to follow the instructions given by the captain very strictly so that you acclimatise well and do not get AMS (acute mountain sickness). Keep your ears always open because they play the most important role in the process of adapting to a new environment. Let a warm jacket be handy for sudden drops in the temperature. After covering a good distance until the third ridge, we will stop for some food and rest. A packed lunch will be provided, along with packed juice to stay charged. Keep on following the trek leader with careful steps over slippery snow and icefields until you reach the campsite at a daunting height of 15,100 ft above sea level. Discover the enchanting allure of the Bali Pass base camp and immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of this destination. Make sure you have adequate rest for the night after a proper dinner to be ready for your ultimate adventure tomorrow. Hot water and warm soup will be served after dinner in the tents.

Bali Col campsite to Lower Dhamni via Bali Pass

As you unzip your tents at dawn, the most anticipated day of exciting adventure awaits. The stage is set for an exhilarating Himalayan exploration with breathtaking views and surreal landscapes. After an early breakfast at 5:30 am, we will assemble for a quick briefing session and begin the trek towards Bali Pass, perched at a height of 16,200 ft. An early start ensures that we reach the top of the pass well in time to enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the surrounding snow-clad mountain ranges. As the snow is still firm during the early hours, this not only makes it simpler to walk, but it also makes it safer. It takes around 2–3 hours to scale the Bali Pass from Bali Col, and the entire trail is covered by a blanket of snow. Although the trail is a bit technical, our experienced trek leaders will assist and guide you through the accurate path. As there are boulders and loose rocks on the path, be mindful of your steps to avoid any mishaps.

A sense of joy and accomplishment ushers in as you stand on the top of Bali Pass after overcoming all the hardships and challenges. Be mesmerised to witness the grandeur of the Bandarpoonch range and Swargarohini massif peak out of the clouds in your wake. You can also see the enchanting valley of Yamunotri from a fair distance. Immerse yourself in the serene landscape of the upper Himalayas and delve deep into its incomprehensible beauty. While you are occupied with your photo sessions, we will serve you your packed lunch and juice.

Now, let's wrap up and get ready to descend to the other side of the pass. Even though it is a downhill trek, the path is filled with loose rocks and glacial ponds, making it strenuous. Always be together with the team, as the trail is difficult to navigate. Greenery and vegetation appear again as you come downhill. Since it will be your last night on the mountains, we have planned a surprise gala dinner at the campsite of Lower Dhamni. Have a great time and relax after a tiring day.
