Explore the Adventure, Mystery, and Beauty of the Roopkund Lake Trek!
Nestled deep in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, the Roopkund Trek is one of India’s most fascinating high-altitude treks. Roopkund Lake is famously known as the “Mystery Lake” due to the human skeletal remains scattered around its edges—dating back to the 9th century.
Perched at an altitude of approximately 15,750 feet (4,800 meters), the trail offers a dramatic mix of dense oak forests, alpine meadows (locally called bugyals), snow-capped peaks, and breathtaking glacial views. From the sacred village of Lohajung to the icy shores of Roopkund, the trek is a blend of natural wonder, ancient legend, and adrenaline-pumping adventure.
The Roopkund Trek is not just a trail—it’s a narrative of nature, history, and high-altitude survival. From ghostly skeletons to soul-soothing meadows, every step on this trek tells a story that will stay with you forever.
Whether you’re seeking mystery, spiritual insight, or pure Himalayan beauty, Roopkund offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

A buffer day in trekking is crucial for ensuring flexibility and safety during an expedition. It acts as a contingency for unforeseen delays due to bad weather, health issues, or challenging trail conditions. Including a buffer day helps trekkers avoid rushing, reduces stress, and increases the chances of completing the trek successfully. It also allows time for acclimatization in high-altitude regions, minimizing the risk of altitude sickness. Overall, a buffer day adds resilience to the trekking plan, making the experience safer and more enjoyable.
Kindly note: A sum of INR 3,500/- per person will be charged extra if the buffer day used.
